RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Election officials estimate that one-stop voting attracted more than 337,000 voters before polls closed on Saturday afternoon.

Although the polls closed at 1 p.m., WRAL-TV reported that election officials said those in line at the time would be able to cast their ballots.

By 11:30 a.m. Friday, officials said 337,685 people had cast ballots at one-stop voting precincts statewide, and 18,021 absentee ballots had been returned for the May 6 primary.

While the race for the Democratic presidential nomination between Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama is the major attraction, a number of state races will draw interest as well. Among them are the Republican and Democratic races for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. Candidates for seats in Congress and the General Assembly are also being decided.
