40 local contractors and builders turned out, to show their concern over higher charges from Greenville Utilities for water and sewer service.
This month GUC announced plans to increase the water and sewer connection fees for contractors.
But contractors say that will hit new homeowners’ pockets.
GUC says the rising price of construction of facilities, fuel, and materials are the reason for the increase.
At a public meeting today they allowed local contractors and developers to talk about finding a solution.
GUC plans for the increase to take effect October 1st, 2008.
Greenville Utilities general manager and CEO Ronald Elks says this topic will be on the table once again at a meeting September 16th, 2008.
