Newport man charged with child abuse

A Carteret County man is charged with child abuse this morning.
The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office tells Nine On Your Side that they’ve arrested 23 year old Jacob Leo Strait Jr. of Newport.
Strait is charged with two counts of Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Injury.
He’s accused of assaulting his two children Wednesday night. The 3 and 4 year old boys received injuries that sent them to Carteret General Hospital for treatment.
Strait is in the Carteret County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
