Audit shows Global Transpark tens of millions of dollars in debt

A major business hub in the east is tens of millions of dollars in debt. That’s according to a state audit report.
An audit company under contract with the North Carolina Department of the State Auditor reports as of June 30th 2008, the Global Transpark has a loan outstanding with accrued interest totaling roughly 34-million dollars.
Since it’s creation, Governor Mike Easley has been a vocal proponent for the site as well as business leaders in the region.
We contacted the sites director Darlene Waddell for an official statement. She has yet to return our calls.
