New measures are in place at one hospital in the east, after they lost funding following an investigation.
Officials say reports made at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro, showed employees used money from drug companies and foreign medical schools for overnight travel.
According to reports, the hospital administrators approved almost $140,000 for travel to medical events.
Officials say the measures will help monitor and utilize the money to include patient care.
Cherry Hospital lost Medicare and Medicaid funding after a patient choked on his medication, and was left sitting in his chair for 22 hours before he died.
