North Carolina Aquariums is accepting bids to rebuild a pier that Hurricane Isabel damaged badly.
The storm damaged more than 500 feet of the Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, back in 2003.
The $15 million project will rebuild the pier to 1,000 feet, with a design that can withstand hurricane winds of 130 miles per hour.
The original pier was built in 1939.
Workers demolished what’s left of it this year to make way for the newer version.
