Commissioners in Pitt County are thinking about adopting a leash law.
They’ve given the Director of Animal Control the OK to present the proposed leash law to her department and bring a final ordinance back to the commissioners.
The proposed law would impose county-wide leash restrictions for dogs.
Right now Greenville has a leash law but outside the city limits, dogs can run free.
As it stands now, the proposal would not affect hunters.
