The Elizabeth City Coast Guard made another daring rescue this past week and it was all caught on tape.  Five adults and one 4-year-old girl were rescued west-northwest of Bermuda after their 47-foot sailboat lost steering and propulsion.

The sailboat “Panache” was 175 nautical miles off shore when the Coast Guard was notified of the situation via satellite phone.  An HC-130J Hercules aircraft crew were dispatched from Elizabeth City to locate the Panache.  Soon after a MH-60J Jayhawk helicopter arrived to hoisted the crew from the sailboat and to safety.  The six people were taken to Bermuda.

Nine on Your Side received this raw video from the Coast Guard, and has left it in its original form, unedited.  The Coast Guard used a “Forward Looking Infrared” camera to capture the video during the 30 knot winds and 15 feet sea swells.
