It’s a story we’re following for tonight’s Eyewitness News 9 at Eleven. Yesterday we told you a Pitt County Judge ruled in favor of a proposed group care facility. It’s for mentally ill patients younger than 18 in Winterville. Some of you agreed with members of the nearby Seventh Day Adventist Church, who took the town to court, over the safety of children at the church’s school. Here’s this week’s viewer’s voice.

“If I had kids at that school, I sure wouldn’t feel at ease,“ ‘hoelyone’ said.

“I feel that the facility should be with in a certain amount of yards or miles from a child centered facility (if it’s a school, child care facility, afterschool). I do not agree with this location,” ‘lcwinfield” said.

This is a complex controversy: and one we’ll continue to cover on Eyewitness News 9. And this person responded to High Point banning aggressive panhandling, as we reported on wnct.com.
“I have sat and watched people stand at the corner of a intersection and as soon as they see cars some have grabbed up a crutch or brace and hobbled up and down the walk to make people feel sorry for them when minutes earlier they were walking up and down with not anything at all…some will trick you and make you think they need help when they are just out there to get your money instead of having a job to go and report into every day.“
