Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin was in Greenville Tuesday night, first for a speaking engagement, and then for pizza. Earlier, speaking at East Carolina University, Palin’s message focused on John McCain’s military and political service to the United States of America. But Tuesday night, she watched the debate with what she called the real hard-working people in Greenville.

Palin was at Boli’s Italian restaurant in Greenville tonight glued to the T.V., taking notes, dressed in an ECU Pirate sweat suit and munching on pizza. Secret Service kept the media and the public away because of security concerns. However, some customers were allowed to sit at outside tables to get a nice meal. Many say they were excited that she made the visit here to the East.
Earlier, she talked with a packed crowd of the faithful at Minges Coliseum at East Carolina University.

Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin knows her audience: “So, I understand your football season got off to quite a start, back-to-back upsets, very good, it sounds like Greenville knows a little something about how to turn an underdog into a victor and you’re going to do the same for us.”

Palin focused on the ticket leader, Senator John McCain and his record of service: “As a Senator he’s seen the corrupt ways of Washington and the wasteful spending to the abuses of power and he’s fought those.“

The Governor of Alaska also talked up the important issues like health care: “And our health care plan: it’ll give millions of middle class American families access to better health care and it’s not going to cost the government a dime.“

And she continued to attack Senator Barack Obama: “Everyone knows we have to get government back on the right track; but our opponents’ plan to do so is higher taxes, bigger government and activist courts, and retreating in war, that’s not the right track for America.“

Angie Dooley says, “She talks to me. This is the first time that I have been this excited about going out to vote. She talks to her, her, him, I brought all these children out here because she talks to the American people on our level.“

Melissa Thompson says, “This is the first time I am voting, I am registered, I have two children now and realized what a difference it makes.“

Evan Jarman says, “She just has a good plan for America and I think she’s the best one for it she and John McCain are going to take it.“

Supporters say with the election a few weeks away, they have a lot of work to do.
