The New Hanover Sheriff’s Office is investigating how a woman’s body ended up in a running freezer.
Authorities say they found Alexander Wentz on the living room floor of his Antoinette Drive home after neighborhood residents reported a strange odor. They found Wentz in a decomposed state. Preliminary autopsy results indicated no foul play.
While trying to find next of kin for Wentz, authorities say they discovered Elloise D. Wentz’s body at the same location. They found her body in a running freezer in the back part of the house hidden by furniture.
The preliminary investigation revealed no cause of death for Ms. Wentz. Her body was transported to Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
No signs of foul play have been determined by preliminary autopsy results.
Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
