Laura Vesco joined WNCT in March 2006, as a general assignment reporter.

Prior to joining Eyewitness News 9, Laura was braving the cold in northeast Ohio. At a young age she aspired to be a TV news reporter and jumped on every possible opportunity to make that happen. While in high-school she interned at WJER 101.7 FM in Dover, Ohio. This local radio station gave her the chance to co-anchor the WJER Cable Morning Show.

From there Laura went to Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio. During college Laura practically lived at the campus radio station, WRMU 91.1 FM. Laura was News Director for two years and then her senior year she managed the station as Program Director. In college, Laura won two prestigious awards in professional news competitions. In her junior year, she won the Associated Press of Ohio, Judges Award for Best Featured Reporting in small market radio. The following year she won the 2004 Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, Best of Show for a public affairs program she hosted and produced.

Laura interned in 2004 at WEWS News Channel 5 in Cleveland, OH. There she developed many of her reporting skills while working side-by-side with some of the best in the business.

During her last summer in college she interned at Tribune Broadcasting's Washington D.C. Bureau. At Tribune, Laura experienced news on the national level. She enjoyed being a part of the press at the White House, covering a variety of Senate hearings, and just living in our nation's capital!

Laura is very excited to begin her career in eastern North Carolina and is ready to become a Tarheel fan! In her free time she enjoys hanging out with family and friends or relaxing at NC's beautiful beaches.
