Carley Wegner anchors the morning and noon shows for Eyewitness News Nine. Carley joined the WNCT news team in 2004 and feels honored to help the people of Eastern Carolina start their day with a friendly "Good Morning". You can catch the morning edition Monday through Friday starting at 5:30am. While the work schedule is earlier than most, the hours suit her well. Every day is a fresh start and she hopes the morning show will help start your day off right.
Carley has covered everything from presidential elections to hurricanes and is intrigued with the stories and life lessons people have to tell, both the good and the bad. Carley also heads our "A Place to Call Home" series. There are more than three thousand children in our state that are in foster care. With the help of the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, WNCT (Carley included) is committed to helping these children find loving families. Carley features a child waiting in foster care in our 6 O'clock newscast every Monday night.
Carley started getting television news experience at a very young age. Her first experience was while still in High School, an intern at the Media General Station in Tampa, Florida (WFLA). While attending Florida State University, she worked at the ABC affiliate in Tallahassee. She was hired as a production assistant but then moved to feature reporter and entertainment anchor. Before completing her B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Mass Media and a minor in Political Science, she went back to WFLA in Tampa to do a final internship.
Carley has spent many of her years traveling up and down the east coast. Her mother's family lives in Florida and her Father's family lives in Virginia. Carley feels North Carolina is a good mix of both; it has the gorgeous beaches and is rich in history. Carley is proud to call Eastern Carolina home and both her husband and sister are proud ECU pirates! Carley is extremely career driven, but family, friends and her faith always come first.
While not at work, you may find her hanging out with her loving husband, Brooks, or her cats, Campbell and Daisy. Carley enjoys meeting new people, traveling, sports, music, art and the beach!! She also loves food and you can find some her favorite recipes in her blog "Cooking with Carley".
