A house fire that burned down a home in Tyrrell County Friday night is under investigation.
The Regional 911 Center received a call around 9 p.m. to the 600 block of Jerry Post Office Road.
The Tyrrell Fire Department Washington, Tyrrell EMS, and Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office responded to the call.
Creswell Fire Department also responded for mutual aid.
David Swain, the house’s owner, was awakened by smoke and was able to get out of the house.
The house was a total loss.
The mobile home next door had siding melted from the heat of the fire.
Crews were at the fire for more than five hours.
The cause is still under investigation.
