More showers as front nears

Updated:
A cold front is slowly pushing south toward the Tampa Bay area today. "This front will bring us off and on showers through the day," said Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Leigh Spann. It will also be breezy at times with extra clouds around. Today's rain chance is 40% with highs in the low 90s. "If you do head to the beach today, watch for rip currents that can develop in this weather pattern," said Spann.

The front makes it into our area tonight, and a slight rain chance remains in the forecast. Lows will be in the mid to upper 70s. Drier air will filter in tomorrow, so the rain chance goes down to just 20%. "We will not see any cooler air with this front," said Spann. Highs tomorrow are in the low to mid 90s, and we stay there through the end of the week.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is changing management rules of invasive lionfish to remove them from state waters. Lionfish was introduced to state waters in the 1980s, and since then, populations have boomed in recent years, negatively impacting native wildlife and habitat, the FWC says.
