Storms possible in Tampa Bay today

Updated:

An area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico is headed toward Florida this morning. As it gets closer, rain chances will go up through the day. "We expect just a few isolated showers this morning, but even a few pop-up storms as early as lunchtime," said Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Leigh Spann. Later this afternoon, scattered storms with heavy downpours and strong wind are possible. The rain chance is 60%. Temperatures will climb to near 80 degrees.

The chance of storms continues through the evening before tapering off overnight. Lows will be in the mid 60s. "We could see a lingering shower Saturday morning, but it dries out during the day," said Spann. It will be cooler Saturday with highs in the upper 70s. "Easter Sunday is looking partly cloudy and pleasant with highs near 80 degrees," said Spann.
