Patrick Elllis joined Storm Team 9 in December 2012 after graduating
from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor's of Science in the
same month. He is no stranger to doing television weather, as he worked
as Weekend Meteorologist for two different entities while being a
full-time student. He worked for WeatherVision, a company based out of
Jackson, Mississippi that distributes weather forecast videos to
stations who do not have news or weather operations. By being involved
with WeatherVision, Patrick has been seen on television station from
Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Rochester, New York, to Billings, Montana.
After working in Jackson on Saturday afternoons, Patrick would then
drive two hours up US HWY 49 to Greenville, Mississippi to work at the
WABG-TV 6 as their Weekend Meteorologist as well. He would then drive
back to Jackson to do his Sunday hits for WeatherVision and repeat the
process for Greenville as well.
A native of Mobile, Alabama, Patrick is a life-long southern
gentleman and is excited to come to the East to start his television
career, one that really could have started at the young age of two,
while doing a "broadcast" in front of the family television. An avid
storm chaser, Patrick, as well as group of his peers were able to keep a
watchful eye over North Central Mississippi during his tenure there. He
was able to go out and chase during several severe weather outbreaks,
most notably on April 15th and April 27th of 2011,
when so many tornadoes ripped through the Deep South. He says that
being there and seeing it happen, then watching all the recovery efforts
has further encouraged him to pursue his career.
Patrick is a devoted Mississippi State Bulldog fan, as well New
Orleans Saints fan. You can probably find him ringing his cowbell
throughout the East! Patrick cannot wait to get out and meet the people
of East and is thrilled for opportunity to give accurate and dependable
weather information!
