Madeleine Wright joined 9 On Your Side in March 2012 as the New Bern
bureau chief, leading the station's coverage of Craven, Carteret, and
Pamlico County issues.
Since joining the station, Madeleine has
reported on several high profile stories, including the Croatan National
Forest wildfire, the Jones County puppy mill trial, and the money
laundering case of former state lawmaker Stephen LaRoque. She delivered
live coverage from a tornado disaster area after Tropical Storm Beryl,
and landed an exclusive interview with the herpetologist who made
national news after his alligator bite was caught on camera.
Madeleine
began her career as a reporter at WSJV-TV in South Bend, Indiana,
covering breaking news and feature stories in Indiana and Michigan. She
is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism
in Evanston, Illinois. While a college student, she interned for three
months at ETV in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she reported on the
country's crippling HIV crisis and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Before her
experience in South Africa, Madeleine interned at WPIX-TV in New York
City and WLNY-TV in Long Island.
Although a native of Queens, New
York, Madeleine is learning and loving everything about beautiful
eastern North Carolina and its friendly people. She enjoys photography,
foreign languages, and traveling.
