Madeleine Wright

Madeleine Wright joined 9 On Your Side in March 2012 as the New Bern bureau chief, leading the station's coverage of Craven, Carteret, and Pamlico County issues.

Since joining the station, Madeleine has reported on several high profile stories, including the Croatan National Forest wildfire, the Jones County puppy mill trial, and the money laundering case of former state lawmaker Stephen LaRoque. She delivered live coverage from a tornado disaster area after Tropical Storm Beryl, and landed an exclusive interview with the herpetologist who made national news after his alligator bite was caught on camera.

Madeleine began her career as a reporter at WSJV-TV in South Bend, Indiana, covering breaking news and feature stories in Indiana and Michigan. She is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois. While a college student, she interned for three months at ETV in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she reported on the country's crippling HIV crisis and the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Before her experience in South Africa, Madeleine interned at WPIX-TV in New York City and WLNY-TV in Long Island.

Although a native of Queens, New York, Madeleine is learning and loving everything about beautiful eastern North Carolina and its friendly people. She enjoys photography, foreign languages, and traveling.

Madeleine is always looking for story ideas. Feel free to email them to her at mwright@wnct.com. You can also connect with her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/reportermadeleine.
