Jeremy joined 9 On Your Side in August 2011 as the nightside producer. He graduated in May 2011 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Broadcast Journalism.
Originally from Gastonia, NC (a small town just outside of Charlotte), Jeremy has always hoped to work in the news industry, and is no rookie to fast-paced newsrooms. He interned with WBTV News 3 in Charlotte the summer before his junior year, ABC 11 in Durham his junior and senior years and NBC Universal in Washington, DC the summer before his senior year. He also spent two years producing, reporting and anchoring for the award-winning student newscast "Carolina Week" while in Chapel Hill, and even had the honor of representing the student newscast in Los Angeles at the 2010 College Television Awards.
Outside of working in news, Jeremy is a true Tar Heel. He participated in the Athletic Bands at UNC all through college. His most memorable moments in college all revolve around basketball—the most exciting being celebrating the 2009 National Championship, the second being a huge win over Duke in the Dean Dome his senior year. Go Heels! He also enjoys going to the gym, social networking, good movies, iced coffee and getting to know new people.
Jeremy is looking forward to serving the people of Eastern North Carolina! Please feel free to send him your story ideas at jspearman@wnct.com.
