Tomorrow at the annual "Meet the Pirates" event one lucky member of the baseball team will receive the number 23.
That number was worn by legendary player and coach Keith Leclair who died after suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease. Since 2003, one Pirate every year is chosen to wear the number.
Today at the Greater Greenville Sports Club meeting Coach Billy Godwin said that honor is the biggest and best you can receive within the ECU baseball program.
Godwin also talked about the team's schedule and his high level of excitement going into the 2013 season.
As far as who will wear the coveted number 23 on the diamond, Coach Godwin stayed pretty tight lipped.
"When I was able to sit down and tell the young man that he was receiving the award, the look on his face validated that for me," said Coach Godwin. "It was awesome."
