A Raleigh group that raises Christmas toys for children anticipates finishing well above its goal of 5,500 toys this year.
The Capital City Clauses held their annual Jingle Ball at Marbles MuseumThursday night, and hundreds of people lined the street to get in and give a gift of a toy. Rachel Hardin, president of the Capital City Clauses, said the event drew 2,209 people to Marbles.
Hardin said the group has counted 5,300 toys so far and “they continue pouring in.”
The toy drive, one of the biggest in the area, benefits children in need through the Salvation Army. The toys will be distributed Dec. 18-20.
NBC-17 helped the group raise toys on Friday, Nov. 30, with a “Stock the Sled” event at North Hills. That event raised more than 1,167 toys. Toy drives were also held at 85 businesses around the area.
Park & Market in North Hills is continuing to take in toys through Dec. 15.
