A Raleigh group that raises Christmas toys for children soared past its goal of 5,500 toys this year, finishing with a whopping 6,060 toys.
Rachel Hardin, president of the Capital City Clauses, confirmed the number Tuesday. NBC-17 helped the group raise toys for the Salvation Army, which will distribute them to deserving children for Christmas.
The Capital City Clauses raised toys in multiple ways. Many businesses around the area were drop-off points. Plus, the Clauses held its huge Jingle Ball at Marbles Museum, which drew 2,209 people. Everyone attending had to bring a toy.
NBC-17 teamed with the Capital City Clauses to hold the first Stock the Sled event at North Hills Nov. 30. That event in the commons area raised 1,167 toys for the effort. Kiss 93.9 also broadcast live from North Hills that day to support the event.
