Super Bowl Sunday is all about getting together with friends and watching the game.
One church in the East brought the Super Bowl to Sunday service.
The New Beginnings Church in Winterville held their annual Super Bowl Sunday service; and it was anything but a typical church service.
"Everything is just big and a lot of fun, church can fun. So it's cool that we have a church with a big Super Bowl party," said Bryce Pinson.
The church decorated the lobby and the sanctuary in a Super Bowl theme. They had everything from a football field, to Ravens and 49ers balloons, to a stage with field goal posts.
"I just like the stories where either Paul or Jesus use modern day illustrations to make a spiritual point. We just decided to, hey lets go for it. Go big or go home and just kind of grab some of that enthusiasm and try and turn that into a spiritual aspect," said senior pastor Israel Campbell.
People were dressed in their favorite team's jerseys.
Even the pastor got in on the action by wearing a referee outfit.
"I'm in a referee's outfit, which is not traditional, and this just kind of lets people relax and kind of lets people wear their jerseys and support you team," said Campbell.
Campbell says it's about making church more attractive to all types of people.
"We want to create an atmosphere where people can come actually enjoy, and watch the game, and have some fun with each other and be in a good atmosphere. They can actually come to church, still love football and still love God," said Campbell.
This is the eighth annual Super Bowl party for the church, which has campuses in Wilson and Winterville.
