He's already been at work for more than a month, but Monday, Greenville's police chief was officially sworn in.
Hassan Aden took his oath of office in front of more than 100 people in the city council chambers this morning.
Aden comes to the city from Alexandria, Virginia, where he spent 25 years as deputy chief. His former colleagues presented him with a plaque during the ceremony today.
"It's sort of emotional, I spent 25 years with the Alexandria Police Dept. and to get that recognition, their presence here at my swearing in, was very touching," said Hassan Aden, Greenville Police Chief.
Aden's wife and sons were there to support him and posed for pictures afterward.
Since arriving in November, Aden has already spearheaded several initiatives, including pumped up policing in crime-ridden areas.
