No bond for Lejeune Marine charged in bingo hall murder

A Camp Lejeune Marine facing charges in a fatal shooting at a bingo hall will not be released on bond.

21-year-old Larry Forrest is charged with murder and attempted robbery. He made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

Police said he shot and killed 65-year-old Kim Flournoy on December 30th at the TNT Beach Bingo Hall on Henderson Drive. They also said they believe other subjects are involved in the case.

Flournoy was the widow of an active duty Marine. She worked aboard Camp Lejeune for several years until she died.

The reward has increased for information leading to an arrest in the shooting death of a grandmother.

Jacksonville Police tell 9 On Your Side, the reward is now $25,000 to find those responsible for Kim Flournoy's death.

She was gunned down outside Jacksonville's TNT Bingo Hall back on December 31.

Police now say NCIS has contributed another $2,500, raising the reward amount to $25,000.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - The children of a woman shot and killed outside a bingo hall are asking for the community's help to solve the crime.

Kim Flournoy DiJoseph's 65 year old mother, also named Kim Flournoy, was shot to death outside of Jacksonville's TNT Bingo hall back on December 31st. Her son Sammy says support from the community has been widespread.

"Lots of people talking. Every person I've talked to in town, they know my name. they know the circumstances. you know, they've expressed their grief to me and their thoughtfulness," said Flournoy.

Flournoy DiJoseph says their mother's death has changed every aspect of her life.

"Changes who we are to ourselves and who we are to others around us. It changed how I ordered a slice of Tony's pizza the other day, how many times I say I love you to my son and brother. It changes what Jacksonville is as a home town," said Flournoy DiJoseph.

The children, who traveled here from Virginia and Colorado, hope the community can help solve their mother's murder.  

Jacksonville Police say the shooter left the scene in a white or silver Dodge Avenger. There is a $22,500 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call Jacksonville Police or Onslow County Crime Stoppers.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Three more Jacksonville businesses are adding money to the pot for tips in a murder case.
     
The Marine Federal Credit Union, Carmen Realty and "TNT Bingo" each pledged to pay $2,500.
     
That brings the total possible reward to $22,500 for information leading to an arrest in the death of 65-year-old Kim Flournoy. She's the widow of a retired Marine.
     
Someone shot and killed her in the parking lot of "TNT Bingo".
     
It happened a little more than a week ago.

Police want to find the shooter.

JACKSONVILLE, NC- Jacksonville police have identified a woman who they say was shot to death Sunday night outside of a bingo hall. 

Police have identified Kim Flournoy as the lone victim in a Sunday night shooting outside the TNT bingo hall on Henderson drive. Police say they found her dead at in the parking area behind the bingo hall when they responded to a call of shots fired around 7:45 pm.

Neighbor, Sandy Nelson says Flournoy had lived in the neighborhood as long as she can remember and was even the neighborhood bus stop monitor when Nelson was a child.

"She used to be our bus stop coordinator at the bus stop. She used to watch us if our parents couldn't watch us and her children went to school with us too," said Nelson.

Police continue to search for the person who shot the 65-year-old widow of a retired Marine.

Police say the shooter left the scene in a white or silver four door sedan. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call Jacksonville Police

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WNCT) - Police have released the name of the person killed outside a Jacksonville bingo hall.

It happened around 7:45pm Sunday night at the TNT Bingo on Henderson Drive.

Officers say they arrived on scene and found 65-year-old Kim Hua Flournoy, of Jacksonville, shot and killed in the parking lot. 

Police say the shooter took off in a white or silver Dodge or Chrysler 4-door sedan. It is believed that there were several subjects in the vehicle. 

"We are actively pursuing any and all leads" stated Lieutenant Jason Bettis, JPD Investigations Supervisor.  "The victim was the widow of a retired Marine and had recently celebrated her 65th birthday. We ask that anyone with information to contact JPD or Crimestoppers."
