Martin County man sentenced in strangling of wife

WILLIAMSTON, N.C. -

A Martin County man will spend at 15 years in prison for killing his wife.

Thursday afternoon, a jury convicted Albert Gurkin for second degree murder.

Gurkin strangled and murdered his wife Jewel in May 2009.

She went missing and 3 days later deputies found her body buried near the couple's home
