Imagine a car smashing into a store while you're shopping. Well it happened at a Newport flea market this weekend. A witness caught much of it on camera.
State Troopers charged 93 year old Edward Lupton with reckless driving. The flea mall's owner, Morgan Garner says the driver blacked out.
"From my understanding, the gentleman was blacked out, was trying to park out there, he was 93 years old." Said Garner.
One man, was injured in the crash, and was treated at the hospital. Merchandise from the vendors suffered the most damage in the crash, with seven tables of items being destroyed. Garner says it was almost unrecognizable.
"It was a destroyed place in here, there was a lot of stuff that was scattered all over the place in the flea, where he went through at." Said Garner.
The car's driver did not suffer any injuries in the crash. Garner says he is amazed that the car missed the support beams that hold up the building.
Damage to the flea market and to vendor's merchandise will be covered by insurance.
