RALEIGH, N.C. -
A controversial unemployment benefits bill is one step away from the governor's desk.
Tuesday afternoon, state senators tentatively approved a measure that would require higher taxes on businesses and force unemployed people to live on $350 a week.
That's a third less than the current maximum.
The full Senate will likely vote on this bill Wednesday.
