McCrory against state run health exchange

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

State lawmakers are lashing out against the federal health care overhaul.

"We've gotta decide whether to expand Medicaid," said Pat McCrory before making a call on how North Carolina would handle Obamacare. "And I have to make sure we make the right decision."

Today, that decision is that the state should not have to cover half-a-million-uninsured people.

He says federal officials haven't given enough information about the long-term costs of the new health care plan.

Ultimately, he says North Carolina is not ready to expand the Medicaid system.

He suggested the state will participate in a federal exchange program to cover the uninsured.
