Governor McCrory has ensured that help is on the way for the Outer Banks.
He signed an executive order declaring a "State of Disaster" for the town of Kitty Hawk.
That order will help the community rebuild after Hurricane Sandy damaged much of the area. The declaration allows the town to get state money to cover 75% of the cost for clean-up and recovery.
Local dollars will have to cover the rest.
Sandy edged past the state in late October, sparing most of North Carolina. But it damaged dozens of homes and businesses in Dare County.
