The flowers, the candy…the rawhide bones?
Yes, even those. This Valentine's Day it's not just about the people.
A new survey from the National Retail Federation says 1 in 5 people will show their furry companions some love today – spending a collective 815 million dollars just on pet stuff.
"Valentine's Day, in particular. I don't know. It's really girly. She's a pretty girly dog and I'm pretty girly so I like to do fun stuff like that," said pet owner, Kate Writtenberry.
"Whoever I marry, whenever that day comes, if they don't like dogs we have a problem," said Wellons Hallman.
"Your Perfect Cake" in Greenville sold out of "Pupcakes" within hours Valentine's Day morning. Even the Pitt County and Onslow County Animal Shelters are hoping to spread the love. They have special adoption rates for cats and dogs through Saturday.
The reality…our pets don't even know it's Valentine's Day. But hey, they're part of the family, too.
