AYDEN, N.C. -
Shortly after 10am this morning, fire crews were called to a double-wide trailer fire on Littlefield Road near Ayden Grifton High School.
Smoke and flames were coming through the roof of the trailer when firefighters arrived. Two adults and a newborn baby were home at the time. Five other children live in the home but were at school at the time. Everyone was able to escape without injuries.
Firefighters believe the fire started in the kitchen, but they are still on scene investigating. The Red Cross is working to assist the family.
