Beaufort County Sheriff won't seek re-election

WASHINGTON, N.C. -

Beaufort County Sheriff Alan Jordan will not seek re-election in 2014.

Jordan says he plans to retire at the end of the year and says he's looking forward to spending more time with his family.

The sheriff has 30 years of experience in public service and will be endorsing narcotics captain Russell Davenport as his successor
