GREENVILLE, N.C. -

A man folks in the east know as "Coach Coburn" passed away this week.

Charles Coburn is a Vietnam Veteran who lost his right arm in combat. But that didn't stop him from having a successful 41-year career as a baseball umpire.

Coburn also founded the Pitt Co. Umpires Association.

Coburn is a former coach and Athletic Director at Pitt Community College. The gym at PCC, The Coburn Center, now bears his name.

His son, Deputy Cameron Coburn, tells us he passed away Thursday of health-related illness. He leaves behind six children.
