Sandy Hook families testify at gun control hearings

6 year-old Jessie Heslin's father pleaded with Congress to ban assault weapons like the one that killed his son

During a Senate hearing for Senator Dianne Feinstein's proposed ban, Heslin tearfully recounted his son's last moments during the Sandy Hook Elementary Shooting .

The Obama administration supports Feinstein's bill.  It would ban some assault weapons, high capacity magazine, and require mandatory background checks for all gun purchases.

Earlier in the hearing, tempers flared when Milwaukee's police chief challenged Senator Lindsey Graham.

A Senate vote on the Assault Weapons ban could come as soon as Thursday.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg was also in Washington today. Bloomberg is trying to convince lawmakers to pass an assault weapons ban.
