Deputies say a local family uncovered human remains near a creek Sunday afternoon.
The remains were discovered near a creek in Halifax, close to the Highway 561 railroad bridge.
The Halifax County Sheriff's Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are investigating the discovery.
