The Shankweiler family is having a reunion in Miami.
Former Pirate assistant coach Steve Shankweiler is now the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator at Florida International. His son Kort, who starred at JH Rose and who played at East Carolina was hired at FIU to coach the tight ends and tackles.
Both Shankweilers will be working for Ron Turner at FIU.
The elder Shankweiler had three stints as an assistant coach at East Carolina and last worked with Skip Holtz at South Florida.
Kort comes to FIU after spending three seasons as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Central Michigan University.
