CLAYTON, N.C. -

Police in Clayton are investigating a possible motorcycle theft ring after three sport bikes were stolen from the same general area.

Each theft took place on a weekend and during the early morning hours. Authorities say each bike was hauled away and not driven away.

The first motorcycle was stolen on Jan. 21 from the Parkside Condominiums parking lot on Parkside Village Drive. The motorcycle that was stolen was a 2012 Honda CBR 1000RR with a black windshield and was valued at $14,700.

The second motorcycle was taken on Feb. 25 from Fran's Auto Mart on Highway 70 Business.

The bike, which was a 2006 Honda CBR 1000, is valued at $8,000.

The third motorcycle, a 2008 Yamaha Yzf R6s, was stolen on Feb. 27 from Amelia Village Apartments on Kershaw Lane. The Yamaha was recovered Thursday at an apartment complex near Triangle Town Center.

Anyone with information about what happened to the motorcycles is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 919-359-TIPZ.
