Chancellor Steve Ballard says East Carolina is set to become a full sports member of the new Big East.
Originally ECU was just going to be a member of the conference in football but all of that changed when the Catholic Seven announced they were leaving. Along with those seven schools will go the Big East name.
According to multiple sources the name of the new conference that ECU joined will be the America 12.
Ballard says the Pirates, along with one other university will be brought in as full sports members of this conference.
"We've got to understand what we can do in the new conference," says Ballard. "We've go to be competitive in the new Big East. We'll be in all sports in July. It's a guarantee."
