A wanted fugitive from Maryland was arrested in Greenville this week.
Police tell us Officer F.D. Gorham was investigating a suspicious vehicle early Thursday morning near Upton Court.
One of the men inside the car had no picture identification. Without probable cause to hold the unknown man, Officer Gorham received consent and took a picture of him. He was then released.
The photo was circulated among officers in the department. Through further investigation detectives in the Criminal Intelligence Unit were able to identify him as 31-year-old Quadell Pollin, a wanted fugitive from Baltimore.
With the new information, Officer Gorham searched the same area Thursday night. Around 12:30 a.m. Friday he was able to locate and arrest Pollin on S. Evans St.
Pollin had prior arrests for robbery, assault, drugs and weapons offenses. He also has a history of assault on law enforcement officers.
He was charged with providing false information to law enforcement to avoid prosecution, and he is being held at the Pitt County Detention Center pending extradition to Maryland.
