
The Red Cross has placed a family in a hotel for the next few nights after their home caught on fire.
Crews cleared the scene at 604 Broad Street around 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The family returned home from Jacksonville around 9:30 a.m. Saturday and discovered their house was on fire.
Swansboro, West Carteret Fire & EMS, Bear Creek, Hubert, Onslow EMS and many other emergency officials responded.
No injuries were reported but the family dog, Colby, is believed to have gotten out of the home and ran away.
The home is considered a complete loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
