Several families are back home after a wildfire burned more than one hundred acres in Onslow County.
State forestry officials say the fire started around 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon, near Hardy Graham Road right along the Onslow and Pender county line.
More than 20 homes were evacuated while firefighters used plows and air tankers to get the fire under control.
An evacuation center at Haws Run Volunteer Fire Department opened to help those who had to evacuate.
"They recommended that we evacuate the area. And we packed everything up, got everything ready. But we started seeing that things were starting to calm down a little bit. That gave us peace of mind that we're going to be alright," said Travis Russell, resident.
Emergency crews say they'll continue to monitor hot spots today.
