McCrory to praise deal for eco-industrial park

RALEIGH, N.C. -

North Carolina's governor and environmental agency head are hailing the conversion of a polluted industrial property into an ecologically friendly industrial park.

Gov. Pat McCrory and Environment and Natural Resources Secretary John Skvarla plan to announce an agreement Monday that will enable development of the eco-industrial park on a former Superfund site in Charlotte. The site is being called ReVenture West.

A developer has already spent several years working on ReVenture Park, which is being built on the polluted grounds of a former textile-dye manufacturing plant along the Catawba River. One part of the project includes a renewable energy project that would convert garbage into pellets that could be used to fuel electricity power plants.
