Man in custody after standoff with Fayetteville police

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -
Fayetteville police have a 21-year-old suspect in custody after he barricaded himself in a house on Branchwood Circle.
Police responded to a call just after 5 p.m. to the 7600 block of Branchwood Circle to assist officers with serving an arrest warrant on a male subject.
When officers arrived, the male suspect barricaded himself in the residence. Officers then set up a perimeter a quarter mile wide and secured the area.
Gavin McRoberts with the Fayetteville Police Department identified the suspect as 21-year-old "D.J." Terrence Cordell.
A child inside the residence left the house safely.
Negotiators attempted to talk the suspect out of the residence.
At 9:30 p.m., Cordell came out of the residence and was taken into custody.
