RALEIGH, N.C. -

There is a large woods fire off of I-40 westbound at mile marker 319 in Johnston County.  There is no word on how the fire started or when it began.

Six fire stations are on scene along with the N.C. Forestry, making a total of 42 firefighters.

With the fire burning 25 acres, a bulldozer is currently plowing brush to extinguish the fire.  A perimeter is being created around the area to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

I-40 eastbound is still open but the far right westbound lane is closed to allow firefighters to put out hotspots near the roadway.

There are no reported injuries.
