KINSTON, N.C. -
It's a decade in the making, but now Lenoir County has a new jail. Deputies tell us they moved some of the inmates in today as part of the jail opened.
The facility features a new video visitation system. Construction on the jail took about 2-and-a-half years. They hope to transfer the rest of their inmates in other counties back to Lenoir County soon. The Lenoir County sheriff hopes to have the jail fully functional within a week.
