The Swan Quarter Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at 4876 Quarter Road on Thursday evening. The double-wide mobile home was home to three adults and a young grandchild. The department was able to bring the fire under control within an hour.
Investigators found the cause of the fire which started in the wall of an unused bedroom. An electrical outlet shorted and set the wall on fire. The fire spread quickly through the home causing the trailer to be a total loss.
Firefighters say the occupants had smelled smoke and had begun searching for the source when they saw flames coming from under the bedroom door. They attempted to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher; however they were unable to contain the fire and left the home unhurt.
