WAXHAW, N.C. -
Gov. Pat McCrory agrees with state legislators about getting more electronic and online learning into North Carolina's public schools.
McCrory visited a Union County high school Friday to sign two bills into law related to digital technology and education.
One measure says the General Assembly plans to shift funding to digital textbooks and other instructional materials across the state by 2017. Another bill tells the State Board of Education to put digital training into teacher licensure standards and to require similar competency for school administrators.
The governor also visited downtown Waxhaw as part of his small-town "Main Street" initiative and attended the groundbreaking for a building at charter school in Matthews.
McCrory canceled his Thursday schedule because his office said he was ill.
