Two teams, two games, and two state titles for Kinston High School; as both girls and boys basketball teams brought home two state championships on Saturday.
9 on your Side talked to people in Kinston to get their reactions to the Vikings victories.
Kinston sixth grader Linwood Grandy sat in the stands as the teams battled for the championships.
"It was great," said Grandy.
Kinston residents say the state championships bring some much needed positive attention to the city.
"As an alumni of Kinston High, I am so proud of both teams. They have brought a renewed energy to a city that desperately needed it!!! Congrats Mighty Mighty Vikings," said Diane Chapman.
"Got to put them on the map now," said Ruffin Hill.
The players and coaches say the community support is like no other.
"We're so happy for our city, they've been there to support us throughout the whole year," said Kinston Girls Head Coach Hubert Quinerly.
"To be able to come home and bring two to the community and to see our community rally around all of us is pretty special," said Kinston Boys Head Coach Perry Tyndall.
