Inmate dies in Durham Co. Detention Center

DURHAM, N.C. -

An inmate at the Durham County Detention Center died last week after being found unconscious.

Authorities found Terry Demetrius Lee, 21, unconscious in his cell at about 2:20 p.m. Thursday.

Detention staff performed CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived, and paramedics attempted to revive Lee for an extended period of time.

"My office is conducting an investigation surrounding Mr. Lee's death and we have notified the SBI, which is standard procedure," said Sheriff Mike Andrews.

Lee was booked into the jail Wednesday morning on several felony charges. He was being held under a $1,000,500 bond.
