A Duke University freshman is using
basketball brackets to bring in some extra cash for charity.

created "Brackets4life.com." People use their credit cards to donate two dollars or more to compete in the tournament.
Half of the money will
go to charities decided by the five highest scorers.
The other half will go
to the CJ Foundation for SIDS Research for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Michael lost his
brother, Christopher, to SIDS when Christopher was just 5 months old.
McConville, who came to Duke from New Jersey, said having people
read about SIDS on the website is just as important as raising money through
it.
"I've
always believed that he passed away without reason, " McConville said. "SIDS doesn't really give a
reason as to why he passed away.
"I've always been a very curious person. I
like to know the answers and if someone can't tell me an answer, then I find it
my own way. I'm hoping I can do the same for SIDS one day. This is just my
first step in the process."
McConville did not know how
to create a website --- so he received help from "InCube" – Duke's student
entrepreneurship group.
In all, about 15
students worked on the project.
